Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how OpenCourt (“OpenCourt,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use joinopencourt.com, the OpenCourt web application, and related communications (together, the “Service”).

It applies to players, captains, visitors, and anyone who communicates with us about the Service. It does not apply to websites, venues, or services operated by others.

02

Information we collect

Account and identity information

We collect your email address and authentication details needed to keep your account secure. If you choose Google or Apple sign-in, we may receive your provider identifier, verified email address, name, and profile image, depending on your provider settings.

Player profile and preferences

This can include your display name, profile photo, home area, travel radius, indoor or beach preferences, skill level, preferred positions, and other details you choose to add.

Openings, games, and reliability activity

We process openings you post, requests you make or review, roster decisions, schedules, cancellations, attendance confirmations, and related game history. These records help the Service coordinate games and show reliability information.

Social, communication, and safety information

We collect friend connections and requests, messages between matched players, feedback, reports, moderation records, and information you provide when asking for support.

Location and venue information

We may process a selected home area, travel radius, device location when you grant permission, and the locations of game venues. We use this to show relevant nearby openings and map results. OpenCourt does not publicly display your precise home location.

Device and usage information

Our hosting and infrastructure providers may automatically process IP address, browser and device type, timestamps, requested pages, error logs, and security signals needed to deliver and protect the Service.

03

How we use information

  • Provide, operate, and personalize OpenCourt.
  • Authenticate accounts and preserve your place during sign-in.
  • Match players with relevant openings and coordinate game activity.
  • Deliver transactional emails, confirmations, and service notices.
  • Support messaging, friend connections, and attendance workflows.
  • Prevent abuse, enforce community standards, and resolve disputes.
  • Diagnose errors, secure the Service, and improve performance.
  • Comply with law and protect people, OpenCourt, and the community.
04

How information is shared

With other OpenCourt users

Profile details, reliability information, openings, requests, and game information are shown to other users when needed for discovery, selection, or coordination. Messages are visible to the participants in the relevant conversation. We do not publicly expose your email address.

With service providers

We use providers that process information on our behalf, including:

  • Supabase for authentication, databases, realtime features, and file storage.
  • Vercel for application hosting, delivery, and operational logs.
  • Resend for sign-in links and other transactional email.
  • Google for Maps, Places, and Google sign-in when you choose it.
  • Apple for Apple sign-in when you choose it.

For safety, legal, or organizational reasons

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal requests, investigate fraud or safety concerns, protect rights and property, or support a merger, financing, acquisition, or transfer of the Service. We will require an appropriate recipient to continue protecting the information where applicable.

OpenCourt does not sell your personal information. We do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

05

Location, camera, and photos

OpenCourt asks for browser or device permission before using protected features such as device location, camera access, or photo selection. You can deny or revoke those permissions in your browser or device settings.

Live camera video used to scan a QR code is processed for that scan and is not stored by OpenCourt. Images you deliberately select for a profile photo or QR upload may be processed or stored as needed to provide the feature.

06

Retention and deletion

We retain information while your account is active and as reasonably necessary to provide the Service. Some records may be kept longer for security, fraud prevention, support, dispute resolution, legal compliance, or to maintain the integrity of game and attendance history.

You may request account deletion by contacting us. Deletion from active systems may take time, and limited information can remain in backups or where retention is legally permitted or required. We may de-identify information instead of deleting it when it can no longer reasonably be linked to you.

07

Your choices and rights

  • Review and update available profile information in OpenCourt.
  • Change location, camera, and photo permissions on your device.
  • Block users or use reporting and moderation tools where available.
  • Disconnect Google or Apple access through the provider’s settings.
  • Request access, correction, or deletion by contacting us.

Disconnecting an identity provider does not by itself delete your OpenCourt account. We may need to verify your identity before completing a privacy request.

08

Security

We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including managed authentication, access controls, and secure transport. No service can guarantee absolute security. Protect access to your email and identity-provider accounts, and contact us if you suspect unauthorized use.

09

Children’s privacy

OpenCourt is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action. Users under the age of legal majority should use the Service only with permission from a parent or legal guardian.

10

Where information is processed

OpenCourt and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Those locations may have data-protection rules that differ from the rules where you live. We use service providers and safeguards appropriate to the services they perform.

11

Changes and contact

We may update this policy as OpenCourt evolves. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when a change is material and notice is required.
